The ZDF Kultnacht is a music program on the ZDF that was broadcast for the first time on November 2, 2002. Since 2009, new episodes have mostly been broadcast on New Year 's Eve night and old episodes have also been repeated.

concept

Each episode has its own theme, such as B. an artist, a band , a music style for which the music titles of programs from the ZDF archive are compiled. The first episode was about the Swedish pop group ABBA , one of the most successful bands in music history . There, the group's career was shown from the group's first appearance on German television on January 6, 1973 in the disco to the last Germany appearance on Show-Express on November 11, 1982. Episodes were also broadcast on certain occasions such as the 75th birthday of band leader James Last or singer Udo Jürgens and the first anniversary of the death of actress and chanson singer Hildegard Knef . There were also episodes with highlights from the earlier ZDF programs disco, Hitparade , Rockpop ; Star parade and Thommy's or Peter's pop show . The editor Dirk Quaschnowitz is responsible for the compilation.
