Robert Klinke

Robert Klinke (born January 26, 1960 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German diplomat .

Life

Klinke studied law and Islamic studies . After the second state examination, he went into the foreign service in 1991 . From 1993 to 1996 he worked in the permanent representation of the Western European Union in Brussels . Then Klinke was permanent representative at the embassy in Khartoum , Sudan, until 1999 . He then returned to various departments at the Foreign Office . In 2006 he went to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an exchange officer . From 2007 to 2009 Klinke was head of the economic service at the German Embassy in Brasília . After a renewed period in the Foreign Office, he became envoy at the German Embassy in Prague in 2013 . In 2016 he became Consul General in Mazar-e Sharif , Afghanistan . It was during this time that the bomb attack on the Consulate General fell, killing at least six people and injuring 128 people. Klinke has been the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Croatia since 2018 .
