The parsley street is a street of Lübeck .

location

The approximately 60 meters long, very narrow Petersilienstraße is located in the northwestern part of the old town island, the Marien-Magdalenen Quartier . It connects the Engelswisch with the street An der Untertrave .

history

The street 1323 is mentioned for the first time as Goldogenstrate . This oldest name refers to the councilor family Goldoge , who owned land here and on Engelswisch in the 13th century . The road leading down to the Trave was laid out and built on very late; At the end of the 13th century there were kitchen gardens here and gardeners were resident. The name Petersilienstrate , recorded in 1376, is probably derived from these gardens and actually refers to the garden plant parsley . This name was retained over the following centuries (1389 Petersilgenstrate , 1458 Peter-Cilienstrate , 1541 Petercillienstrate , 1608 Petersyllienstrate ). Only in 1541 a name appears again with Goldenstrate , which is a reference to the earliest name Goldogenstrate .

The current name was officially established in 1852.
