Petit Papa Noël is a famous French Christmas carol.
history
The song comes from Richard Pottier's film Destins . The French actor and chansonnier Tino Rossi sings the title written by Raymond Vinci and composed by Henri Martinet; this version is still one of the most popular today. The song lands in the French charts every year at Christmas time. There are three different recordings by Tino Rossi alone, some of which are in the charts at the same time. Since 1946, Petit Papa Noël has sold over 300 million times.
Papa / Père Noël (literally: Christmas Father) is the French name of Santa Claus. The song is about a child turning to Santa Claus on Christmas Eve and asking him not to be forgotten when giving out presents.
