Petra Ševčíková (born September 1, 2000 in Pilsen ) is a Czech cyclist who is active on the road and track .

Athletic career

Petra Ševčíková began her sporting career as a swimmer , at Czech championships she was tenth. In the long run it became too monotonous for her to always "look at the tiles", which is why she switched to cycling at the suggestion of father and brother. This offers more "action". She started racing on the road and cross-country . After a ride on a cycling track , she got the taste for continuing this discipline. First she started for Dukla Brno , then she switched to Dukla Prague , as the way from her hometown Beroun to Brno was too far for her and her parents didn't want the then 15-year-old to move there. She is mainly trained by her brother, who has created a tailor-made training program for her. She is considered to be "the great talent of Czech cycling".

Ševčíková had her first successes on the track: in 2016 and 2017 she became national junior champion in the omnium , in 2017 she won silver in scratch at the junior European championships . In 2018 she became the Czech junior champion in road racing . In 2019 she won her first national title in the elite in the points race .
