Petra Urban (born March 8, 1968 ) is a German opera, operetta and musical singer (mezzo-soprano).

Life

After her vocal and dance training, Petra Urban has been engaged as a mezzo-soprano in the field of choir and solo at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden since 1989 . Since then she has appeared on stage as a soloist in many productions, such as in Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story , as Zeitel in Jerry Bock's Anatevka , in The Prince of Homburg , in One Night in Venice by Johann Strauss , as La contessa di Ceprano in Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto , as Lady Boxington in My Fair Lady and Im Weiße Rößl by Ralph Benatzky .

In addition to her work at the theater, Petra Urban also works as a singer at events, where she also performs as a gospel , blues and jazz singer with a diverse repertoire . The singer also gives opera concerts and song recitals, as well as themed evenings about Franz Kafka and Richard Wagner .

In 1996, Petra Urban received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association . Petra Urban has supported the Bärenherz Foundation as artistic director of the Bärenherz-Gala since 2005.

Since September 2016 she can be seen as Annina in La Traviata at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden .
