Petra von Gemünden

Petra von Gemünden (* 1957 ) is a German Protestant theologian. She has been teaching Biblical Theology (i.e. the exegesis of the NT and OT ) at the University of Augsburg since 2002 .

From 1977 to 1984 she studied Protestant theology in Neuendettelsau , Heidelberg , Montpellier and Erlangen and was vicar in Munich . She did her doctorate in 1989 in Heidelberg under Gerd Theißen with a thesis on vegetation metaphors in the New Testament and its environment . Petra von Gemünden worked as a pastor in Coburg from 1989 to 1992 . In 1990 she taught Protestant theology in Tokyo . From 1992 to 1994 she was a research assistant at the Bethel Church University in Bielefeld .

From 1994 to 2002 she taught the New Testament subject at the University of Geneva and was visiting professor in Paris , Lausanne and Heidelberg .

Petra von Gemünden represents a generation of theologians who have enjoyed an international education and who integrate social history into their research.
