Petrus Josephus Jans

Petrus Josephus Jans (* 1909 in Hilversum as Pieter Joseph Jans , † 1994 in The Hague ) was a Dutch old Catholic clergyman and from 1959 to 1979 Bishop of Deventer .

Life

From 1929 to 1934 Jans studied theology at the seminary in Amersfoort . In 1934 he was ordained a priest . After years of chaplaincy and parish in IJmuiden (1937–1939) and Amsterdam (1939–1945), he led the seminary in Amersfoort from 1945 to 1963 and taught there from 1947 to 1965 dogmatics and practical theology. On 7 July 1959 he donated the Archbishop of Utrecht , Andreas Rinkel , in the cathedral church of St. Gertrudis the episcopal ordination . From 1963 to 1971 he worked as a pastor in Delft , then until his retirement in 1979 as a pastor in 's-Gravenhage.
