Petrus Stephani

Petrus Stephani (* 1616 ; † 1660 ) was a German lawyer and university professor.

Petrus Stephani was a son of the Greifswald professor Matthias Stephani and his second wife Dorothea Seidel. He was enrolled at the University of Greifswald as early as 1625 . In the summer semester of 1633 he went to Rostock and two years later moved to Königsberg . After completing his studies, he went on a study trip through Prussia and Poland. In 1638 Stephani received his licentiate degree in Greifswald and a year later a doctorate in both rights. Then Stephani became Professor of Law in Greifswald. In 1652 he was elected rector of the university. Until his death in February or March 1660, Petrus Stephani was dean of the Faculty of Law three times.

Petrus Stephani was married to Elisabeth Tindlay, the daughter of a Greifswald silk merchant.
