The rectory in Escherndorf

The rectory (address Pfarrgasse 4 , previously house number 73) is a listed building in Escherndorf in Lower Franconia .

history

The history of the rectory is closely related to that of the village of Escherndorf. In the course of his efforts to counter-reformation of the majority of the subjects in Escherndorf, who had converted to the Protestant faith, the Würzburg bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn had the Prosselsheim parish parish after 1596 and built a parish church. The new parish got its own pastor, who moved into a house on the outskirts of the village. The location of the rectory refers to the late establishment of the parish. → see also: St. Johannes Baptist (Escherndorf)

The Escherndorfer parsonage was probably built in 1601. The builder Julius Echter probably had an inscription put in or on the house , as has been preserved on the parsonage in Kolitzheim . A coat of arms of the prince-bishop still exists in Escherndorf today. In 1659 changes were made to the building, which can be traced back to an inscription. In 1968 the Escherndorf rectory was repaired, and in 1987 a comprehensive renovation was carried out. The buildings are now rented to private individuals.

description

The former rectory presents itself as a two-story hipped roof building . The upper floor was built with half-timbering , which is now plastered. The floors are also made externally visible through a cornice . The windows on the ground floor have profiles. On the local side, the property is surrounded by a high wall, so that it can also be referred to as a rectory. On the wall there is a coronation group from the 18th century that was renovated in 2010.
