The Berwang parish church is located in the Austrian municipality of Berwang in Tyrol . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. James the Elder , belongs to the Deanery Breitenwang in the Diocese of Innsbruck . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

Initially at the Imst parish , the place went to the Lermoos parish in 1423 . In 1430 the chapel was enlarged, of which the Gothic choir has been preserved. The curate was established in 1454. In 1731/1734 the nave was rebuilt with the preservation of the Gothic north portal.

architecture

The choir and the tower are Gothic and the central nave is baroque.

Furnishing

The carved high altar with a representation of the Last Supper was created by the sculptor Johannes Obleitner in 1945.

Franz Weber built the organ in 1879.
