Parish Church Bregenz-St. Columban
The Roman Catholic parish church Bregenz-St. Columban is in the district Weidach in Bregenz district vineyards in the district of Bregenz in Vorarlberg . It is consecrated to Saint Columban and belongs to the dean's office in Bregenz in the diocese of Feldkirch . The building is a listed building .
Location description
The parish church is at Weidachstrasse 1 in Weidach, a quarter of the Bregenz district of Rieden. The church stands in the southwest of the city at the foot of the Gebhardsberg .
history
The church, the parish hall, the priest's apartment and the parish kindergarten were built between 1962 and 1966 according to plans by Hans Burtscher .

- Church exterior
The church building has a rhomboid floor plan. The roof is raised over the portal and the chancel. At the entrance to the forecourt there is a free-standing church tower made of exposed concrete. In the southwest there is a funeral hall and in the east the parish center. The outer walls of the church are structured by concrete struts. There is an acute-angled niche above the portal porch.

Inside, the church is a hall with a ditch-shaped ceiling with strong agitation structures. The church interior slopes slightly towards the chancel. Concrete glass windows based on a design by Walter Haegele are embedded in the side walls, the altar wall and the gallery wall. They were carried out by Wilhelm Derix . There is a gallery on the west side.
Furnishing
The portal doors on the west wall were made according to a design by Emil Gehrer : The execution was carried out by the art locksmith Rhomberg-Sieber. On the tabernacle , which stands on a tabernacle support column, there are 42 enamel scenes from the life of Jesus - from the Annunciation to Pentecost . Above the altar is a crucifix made of bronze . These two works - in addition to the baptismal font, the candlesticks, the lecture cross and the Way of the Cross - were designed and carried out by Egino Weinert . The crosses of the apostles and the holy water font come from the company Ars et Aurum in Wil SG .
In the south of the church there is a small Lady Chapel. In a niche stands the figure of St. Mary with child from around 1430. This figure originally comes from Röns .
