history

A church was documented in 1373. The branch church of St. Oswald bei Zeiring was elevated to a parish church in 1765.

Master Kristoff (Christoph Marl) was mentioned in a document around 1498 for the late Gothic church building. The vaulting of the two-aisled nave hall took place according to a contract with the stonemason Hans Pusterwalder in 1539. In 1777 the nave was redesigned in Baroque style. In 1902 there was a restoration.

architecture

The two-aisled, three-bay nave hall has groin vaults on belts and wall pillars and rectangular windows, the nave in front of the choir is wider and one step lower. In the west yoke there is a gallery on two pillars. The retracted ogival front arch shows the dates 1249, 1777, 1902. The single-yoke choir with a five-eighth closure has a mesh rib vault with three parallel ribs and ogive arched windows. The choir contains a small sacrament house with a donkey back arch with a wrought iron grille. The barrel vaulted sacristy is located north of the choir. The portal is arched over the shoulders with a door with simple Gothic fittings. A roof turret with an eight-sided pointed helmet is located above the western front.

Furnishing

The high altar was built at the beginning of the 18th century and bears the late Gothic statues Katharina, Ulrich and Wolfgang, probably created in 1506 by a Rottenmann master. Balthasar Prandtstätter created the other statues around 1740/1750.

The organ was built by Friedrich Wagner from Graz in 1856 and transferred here from the parish church of Oberzeiring in 1902 .
