The Roman Catholic parish church of Güttenbach is in the center (Pfarrgasse 3) of Güttenbach ( Croatian: Pinkovac ) in the Güssing district in southern Burgenland . It is consecrated to St. Joseph and belongs to the Deanery Güssing . The building is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The residents of Güttenbach built a chapel in 1763, dedicated to St. Patrizius was consecrated. In the years 1837 to 1838 it was enlarged by a nave and a tower. Even before the First World War, the small church had become too small. However, due to this war, all construction activity was postponed until later. It was not until 1928 that it was decided to build a new, large church in Güttenbach.

Until 1847 Güttenbach belonged ecclesiastically to St. Michael , then to the parish Neuberg . In 1968 Güttenbach became its own parish.

In 2017 the parish church was renovated inside and out.

Architecture and equipment

The current church was built between 1929 and 1930 according to the plans of the cathedral builder and architect Karl Holey .

It is a tall, single-nave building with a round, ornamented tower with a conical roof on the upper floor . A wide flight of steps flanked by two round towers leads to the southwest portal. The interior has a barrel vault with a raised mirror. The inventory comes from the construction time. At the high altar is St. Joseph and a brass tabernacle. The altar and stations of the cross are made of colored majolica .
