Church interior

The parish church of Hüttau stands parallel between the Fritzbach and the thoroughfare in the center of the community Hüttau in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the state of Salzburg . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to the patronage of St. Leonhard of Limoges , belongs to the Altenmarkt dean's office in the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The patronage festival is celebrated on November 6th ( Leonharditag ). The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

After a donation in 1450, the first Leonhard chapel was built (in 1451 the Capellam in honore Sancti Leonhardi in Fritza prope Hüttaw is documented). The church was built from 1472 to 1492. In 1612 the choir was rebuilt and in 1619 new altars were installed. In 1689 the church became a vicariate church and in 1856 a parish church. Renovations took place in 1846/1847, 1877, 1922 and 1955.

architecture

The three-aisled Gothic church with a west tower in front stands parallel between the Fritzbach and the thoroughfare in the center of the village. The undivided exterior has Gothic tracery windows and a saddle roof and was designated 1472 in the southwest corner. In the south the church has a grooved pointed arch portal with a tympanum. In the west, between two high, stepped buttresses, is a segment arch portal with a valley and bulge. On the semicircular choir, stepped buttresses with a coat of arms and inscription stone are marked with Markus Sittikus 1613 . The west tower from 1492 has a tower hall with pointed arches, whereby the southern pointed arch is fluted with a framework. The tower has four storeys separated by cornices, with gaps in the south, and in the bell storey with triforated windows with double columns, above with triangular gable and pointed helmet. In the south of the choir is the two-storey sacristy from 1612 instead of the previous one-storey sacristy.

The tower hall has a star rib vault on round consoles. The three-aisled nave has three bays of unequal length, which are divided into the side aisles by pointed arches. In the central nave there are star ribs from 1955 on pillars and round services. The vaulted fields show a Gothic tendril painting.

Furnishing

In the tower hall is a crucifix from the 4th quarter of the 19th century.

The furnishings of the high altar date from after 1600 and were created by the so-called "sculptor at the court" , Lorenz Kreuztaler and probably also his son Philipp Kreuztaler .
