The Roman Catholic parish church of Haigermoos is located in the municipality of Haigermoos in the Braunau am Inn district in Upper Austria . It is consecrated to Saints Peter and Paul and belongs to the Deanery Ostermiething in the Diocese of Linz . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The church is first mentioned in a document around 1070. The current church dates from the second half of the 15th century. The upper church was probably built in 1466.

architecture

Church exterior

The building is a late Gothic double church. The structure of the terrain made the construction of a lower church necessary. The west tower is massive and has a baroque tower with bevelled corners. The church tower was changed in a neo-Gothic style. There is a pointed helmet above it. At the upper and lower church are keel-arched stone gates with rich struts. The door to the lower church has late Gothic lily fittings.

Church interior

Lower church

The lower church is a wide-span two-aisled hall church with a three-bay nave. Above it is a ribbed vault . The one-yoke choir is slightly drawn in and vaulted with mesh ribs. The choir closes in the 5/8 end.

Upper Church

The upper church is spacious. It consists of a single nave with three bays. Above it is a ribbed vault with partially winding ribs. The two-bay choir is also slightly drawn in and vaulted with mesh ribs. It closes in the 3/8 end.

Furnishing

Lower church

The high altar was created in 1647 by the carpenter Sebastian Dusler , the sculptor Balthasar Mayr and the painter Johann Miller . All come from Burghausen . The altarpiece depicts the “Baptism of Christ”. The side altars consist of parts of the neo-Gothic altars of the upper church.

Upper Church

The high altar dates from 1717. Ferdinand Oxner painted the sculptures and Franz Josef Camerloher painted the paintings . The altar was renewed in 1765. The side altars originally stood in the lower church. The left altar is a Marian altar from the second half of the 17th century. It comes from the church in Ofenwang, which was demolished around 1875. The figures are made of clay, possibly the casts of the original Gothic wooden figures. The late Gothic Madonna figure made of clay dates from the end of the 15th century. The right side altar is the so-called Anne Altar from the 17th century. Good late Gothic wooden figures from the former high altar stand on it. The figures represent Saint Mary with child, as well as Saints Peter and Paul. The figures were created between 1515 and 1520 and come from the environment of Hans Leinberger .

The organ with two manuals and ten registers was built in 1893 by Albert Mauracher from Salzburg-Mülln .
