The Roman Catholic parish church of Hanfthal is located in the village of Hanfthal in the municipality of Laa an der Thaya in the Mistelbach district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. Florian and belongs to the dean's office Laa-Gaubitsch in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is a listed building .

The church is in the northeast of the village of Hanfthal, a district of the city of Laa an der Thaya.

history

The parish was first mentioned in a document in 1784. The construction of Karl Prantner dates from between 1844 and 1846th

Church exterior

The church is a mighty domed structure over a square floor plan. A narrower nave yoke connects to the west. In the east, the choir, which has also moved in, connects with a straight end. The two-story church tower is built in front of the western nave yoke. At the level of the eaves is a cornice on consoles . Above it lies the bell projectile. Above it is an octagonal pyramid roof . The arched portal on the side of the tower facade is framed and grooved with round bars. The nave and choir have a simple exterior facade and arched windows. In the protruding, domed central part are lunette windows. A single-storey sacristy extension with a triangular gable adjoins the choir to the east .

Above the nave is a pendentive dome over a cornice that rests on pilaster-structured pillars. In the western Langhausjoch there is a Platzl vault . Below the organ gallery is a flat ceiling, which is divided by plastered fields. The two-bay choir is square vaulted, in the sacristy there is also a square vault between belt arches.

Furnishing

The high altar is free-standing. Above it is a crucifix with side console figures depicting St. Mary and St. John . They were created by Sepp Kals in 1960 . There are two side altars in the dome. There are six Rococo candlesticks on the left cafeteria . On the altar is a mosaic of the “Baptism of Jesus” by R. Heinz from 1958. The altarpiece on the right side altar shows St. Florian . It was painted by Josef Kessler in 1876 .

The organ was built in 1961 by Johann M. Kauffmann .
