Parish church Illmitz
The Roman Catholic parish church Illmitz stands on the Anger in the market town of Illmitz in the Neusiedl am See district in Burgenland . The parish church of St. Bartholomäus belongs to the dean's office Frauenkirchen in the diocese of Eisenstadt . The church is a listed building .
history
An older church of St. Martin am Kirchseehügel outside the village, mentioned in a document in 1299, was abandoned in the 18th century. A medieval parish is likely. In 1775 the foundation stone was laid for today's church in the village. The church was consecrated in 1792.
The new connected nave of the modern age on the north side was built in 1977/1978 according to the plans of the architects Klaus Becker and Erich Eberstaller.
architecture
The uniform late baroque church building has a square three-storey tower, one quarter of which is integrated into the western gable facade.
The three-bay nave under wide vaults between stepped belts on stepped pilasters has windows in rounded niches.
Furnishing
The high altar with the year 1658 was transferred here from the abandoned Augustinian convent in Eisenstadt .
