The Roman Catholic parish church of Carinthian Laßnitz is located on the Carinthian-Styrian border in the municipality of Metnitz and is under the patronage of James the Elder . It was first mentioned in a document in 1326 and was elevated to a parish church before 1385.

Building description

The church is a medieval building that was largely renovated at the end of the 18th century. The western vestibule tower with arched sound openings is crowned by a curved pointed helmet, the western portal is protected by a canopy. The sacristy is attached to the north of the drawn-in, low choir with a straight choir closure.

The barrel vault in the nave is provided with stitch caps . A round-arched triumphal arch connects the nave with the groin-vaulted choir. A gothic portal with a door studded with iron plates leads into the sacristy .

Facility

A carved rococo pendium was added to the baroque high altar with sacrificial portals , which was built around 1670 . The two side altars are from the end of the 17th century. The altar panel of the left side altar shows a Madonna, the right side altar shows the crucifixion. The four evangelists are painted in the parapet of the pulpit from 1724 . The console figures from the middle of the 18th century in the nave represent the saints Johannes Nepomuk , Franz Xaver , Isidor and Notburga . The church also features a triumphal arch cross , a carved chandelier with baroque statuettes from the middle of the 19th century and a Gothic one Baptismal font .
