history

Count Hugo I von Montfort († 1228) donated a Johanniterhaus with an attached monastery in 1218. In 1332 the valley with the monastery was documented as a branch of Nüziders . From 1343 the place name came to the monastery , zum Klosterlin , up to today's Klösterle . In 1550 Klösterle was a parish. In 1609 a baroque parish church was built with the town mason of Feldkirch Melchior Morscher. The monastery was closed in the 17th century. The parish church was restored from 1887 to 1892. From 1974 to 1976 the church was rebuilt with the architect Clemens Holzmeister . The new church was consecrated in 1976.

architecture

In the south, the baroque tower from 1609 with a single-storey substructure and an octagonal bell house with arched sound openings and an onion dome was preserved.

The central building has an octagonal floor plan with long sloping walls under a flat gable roof. The interior of the church has a wooden beam ceiling with a window zone on the side of the roof. To the right of the entrance is the baptistery with the glass painting John the Baptist of the Tyrolean glass painting establishment (around 1890).

On the west side there is a war memorial with the relief of a dying soldier based on a design by the architect Hans Feßler and executed by Franz Plunder (1937).

Furnishing

The furnishings include a folk altar and a tabernacle shrine from the end of the 17th century with a crucifix from the 19th century. The Marian figure with child in the manner of Erasmus Kern was created around 1630. A crucifix comes from the 17th century, a Pietà from the second half of the 18th century. The stations of the cross were created around 1775, the painting Christ with the twelve apostles around 1770/1780.

In the vestibule there is a former cross altar with a structure with four columns with a volute top with lambrequin and the cartridge inscription "1774". In place of a former picture there is a crucifix from the 19th century with the figures Maria and Johannes (around 1830): The upper picture shows Sebastian and Johann Nepomuk (1774).

The late baroque organ case from 1766 bears putti and a trumpet angel by Josef Klemens widower . The organ work was built by the Mayer brothers (1910). The organ was renovated in 1944 and 1961. One bell dates from around 1300.
