history

A church in St. Martin was first mentioned in a document in 1384 and soon afterwards it was given parish rights. In the meantime the church was a branch of St. Ruprecht and was only raised to a parish again in 1947. Primus Lessiak was buried in St. Martin , as a memorial plaque was installed in 2008.

Building description

The core of the church is an early Gothic building. The late Gothic choir from 1472 with five- eighth closure has tracery windows. The sacristy on the south side and the baroque chapel annex were integrated into the nave by a steep pent roof. An open vestibule connects to the west of the vestibule tower with a high baroque onion helmet .

In the four-bay nave and in the chancel of the same width, a diamond-shaped ribbed vault rises above circular services with leaf and head consoles. On the north wall of the choir there is a sacrament niche with tracery and lattice. The stained glass windows from 1899 in the choir and nave are painted with depictions of saints. In the south-facing chapel there is a transverse barrel with lance caps .

Facility

The high altar from the second half of the 17th century was taken over in 1960 by the branch church of St. Willibald am Krappfeld . It consists of an aedicule over a high base, lateral canopy arches, a blown triangular gable with a small aedicule as an attachment, which is crowned by small volutes and a halo. The base, the entablature, the canopy arches and the ears on the top are decorated with loose cartilage . The altar bears the statue of St. Martin , flanked by the figures of St. Willibald and Walpurga . The upper picture shows the adoration of the kings .

A statue of the Sacred Heart and a Madonna in the Nazarene style stand on consoles on the triumphal arch wall . In the chapel on the south side hangs a picture of St. Martin painted by Albine Freiin von Herbert and Julietta Forti in the 1830s.
