Parish church Krumpendorf
The parish church Krumpendorf stands on a hill in the west of the municipality Krumpendorf am Wörthersee in the district of Klagenfurt-Land in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to Christ the King , belongs to the dean's office of Klagenfurt-Land / Celovec-dežela in the Gurk-Klagenfurt diocese . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
At the place of the previous church St. Georg from the end of the 19th century, a new church was built from 1959 to 1962 according to plans by the architect Alfons Nessmann and consecrated in 1963.
architecture
The church is oriented north-south and has a trapezoidal floor plan. The south side has a stepped wall structure. The east tower is a reinforced concrete structure. The Georgskapelle connects the church with the tower. The sacristy and ancillary rooms are built on the west side . The parish hall is located in the basement of the church.
Inside, the church is a spacious room with a light-filled chancel. The visible gable roof construction rests on free-standing reinforced concrete pillars that taper downwards. The ceiling is clad with wood.
Furnishing
The interior was reorganized in 2002 by the architect Felix Orsini-Rosenberg . The elliptical central area with the popular altar and the font as focal points are surrounded on three sides by the pews. The altar wall with a bronze relief was created by Valentin Oman in 1982 . The relief thematizes the transience of man and his redemption through the cross.
Architect Felix Orsini-Rosenberg designed the meeting place in front of the church. Exactly at the place of the altar of the old church stands a 500 kg round marble table.
