Felix Orsini-Rosenberg (architect)

Felix Orsini-Rosenberg (born August 16, 1929 in Salzburg ; † February 15, 2020 ) was an Austrian architect .

Life

Orsini-Rosenberg, the son of an ambassador, spent his childhood before 1938 in Cairo , Ljubljana and The Hague . Since his father retired in 1938, the family lived in Carinthia at Damtschach Castle . Taught abroad by private tutors, he attended a boarding school in Carinthia and graduated from high school in Villach in 1948.

From 1949 he studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology , where he met Hans Puchhammer and Gunther Wawrik as students. In 1955 he attended the International Summer Academy in Salzburg in the architecture seminar with Hermann Baur and from 1956/1957 worked at the Baur architecture office in Basel. There he met Ernst Rudolf Hildebrand and Walter Maria Förderer , and since Hildebrand won the competition for the Klagenfurt Hospital, they all went back to Carinthia with Hans Bischoffshausen .

In 1967 he was a co-founder of the Krastal sculpture symposium . In 1969 he co-founded Büro 21 in Klagenfurt with Klaus Holler, Franz Dieter Jantsch, Franz Freytag, Wolfgang Rausch and Karl Murero.

Orsini-Rosenberg took over tasks and functions in the Austrian Society for Architecture from 1966 , he and Karl Hack were co-opted for Carinthia on the board. In 1975 he moved with his family to Vienna and from 1976 he was secretary of the board of the ÖGFA in Vienna, where he organized the series of events “workshop talk”, the reports of which are considered to be the forerunners of the 1979 UMBAU booklet .

In 1985 he returned to Damtschach Castle in Carinthia. From 2001 to 2011 Orsini-Rosenberg worked on the board of the Catholic Academic Association .

  • 2015: Honorary citizen of the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt , for planning the refuge
