Catholic parish church of the Visitation in Ach

The Roman Catholic parish church Maria Ach is located in the village of Ach in the municipality of Hochburg-Ach in the Braunau am Inn district in Upper Austria . It is the feast of the Visitation consecrated and belongs to the deanery Ostermiething in the Diocese of Linz . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A manor in Ach was mentioned in a document around 1180. The church was built near this in 1354. The year 1404 is often given as the construction date, possibly the consecration date. The church was enlarged in 1771. Soon afterwards, the Innviertel with the church, which is located directly on the Salzach opposite the Bavarian town of Burghausen , fell to Austria. The church was restored in 1853, 1895 and 1942.

The west tower is baroque . The church tower from 1774 is slim and ends in a pointed onion helmet .

Church interior

The single nave nave of the church has three bays. It was completed around 1404. Above it is ribbed vault with round keystones from the Burghaus school . The ribs and ceiling panels were decorated in the 1630s with egg stick stucco in the Renaissance style. In the years 1770 and 1771, a square, flat-domed central building with sloping corners and a single - bay, barrel - vaulted choir were added. The choir has a straight end. The extension was built by Johann Konrad Schaffner . The church interior is painted with frescoes. "The Visitation of Mary" is shown in the main room. The fresco is from 1771. In the pendentives the Evangelists. " Annunciation " is shown in front of the choir . The “birth of Christ” is represented in the choir. All works were painted by Johann Nepomuk della Croce and restored in 1942. The overpainted fresco in the choir room was exposed again. It was painted over with a “ Holy Family ” fresco . The ornamental jewelry in the Rococo style comes from Johann Konrad Schaffer.

Furnishing

On the high altar is a three-dimensional trinity group by Johann Georg Lindt from 1771. The Gothic miraculous image “Maria with Child” was created in the 1480s. The alternating pictures by Johann Nepomuk della Croce are from 1776. The rococo side altars have altar pictures by Johann Nepomuk della Croce. The picture of Saint Sebastian was painted in 1772. The wood carvings come from Johann Georg Lindt. Vis-a-vis the Rococo pulpit is a patronage seat with a wrought iron grille from the second quarter of the 17th century. The epitaph for Johann Schweickart with the relief "Baptism of Christ" was created in 1655.

The three bells in the tower were cast in St. Florian in 1946 and sound on e ", g sharp" and b ".
