Thomas "Tom" P. Murray (born January 20, 1969 in Buffalo ) is a former rower from the United States who was the 1999 world champion with the four-man with helmsman .

Athletic career

The 1.93 m tall Tom Murray won the gold medal with the eighth at the 1987 Junior World Championships . In 1991 he finished eighth at the World Championships with the US eighth . Two years later, the US eight won the bronze medal at the 1993 World Championships behind the German and Romanian large boats.

In 1994 Murray switched to the four without a helmsman . At the 1994 World Championships , he took ninth place in this boat class, followed by seventh place in 1995 . At the 1996 Olympic Games in front of a home crowd in Atlanta, the four-man without a helmsman took eleventh place. After two years without participation in the World Championship, Murray entered the 1999 World Championship in St. Catharines in the no longer Olympic boat class four-man with helmsman and won the world championship at the end of his career.
