The Roman Catholic parish church Maria Pulst stands on the southern slope of the Glantal in the village of Pulst in the municipality of Liebenfels in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia . That of the Assumption of Mary into heaven , Assumption, consecrated parish church is part of the Office of the Dean of St. Veit an der Glan in the diocese Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church and the Karner are under monument protection .

history

1263 gave Duke Ulrich III. of Carinthia the right of patronage over the own church of the Johannitern . Pulst thus became an incorporated parish of the Order of St. John and, in continuation, of the Order of Malta .

Building

The nave of the late Gothic building from the 15th and early 16th centuries is vaulted with mesh ribs. The presented west tower has a vestibule on the ground floor. The west portal is closed with an iron-studded door. The nave has three bays with a keel arch portal on the north side and a late Gothic chapel on the south side. In the east, the nave is adjoined by the slightly drawn-in choir with a 5/8 end and star rib vault. The west gallery stands on two turned late Gothic columns. In the nave, rudimentary frescoes on the north wall depict the Adoration of the Kings (15th century) and scenes from the Turkish Wars (dated 1579).

Facility

The late baroque high altar was made by Johann Georg Hittinger . The altarpiece shows a protective cloak Madonna with child. There are carved figures on the sacrificial portals and on both sides of the altarpiece.

The paintings of the simple, baroque side altars standing on both sides in front of the triumphal arch show the beheading of John the Baptist on the left , the martyrdom of St. Sebastian .

The cross altar from 1731/32 in the south-facing chapel is the work of Johann Pacher .
