Niederalm parish church
The Niederalm parish church stands on the northern edge of the village of Niederalm in the municipality of Anif in the Salzburg-Umgebung district in the province of Salzburg . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to the patronage of John the Baptist , belongs to the Bergheim deanery in the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
A church was documented in 1435. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1949.
The church building - in its core late Gothic - is surrounded by a cemetery and was rebuilt in the 17th century and in 1972/1973.
architecture
A retracted polygonal late Gothic choir adjoins the simple single nave nave from the 17th century with a gable roof and a gable turret with a baroque onion dome. The two-storey sacristy in the north of the choir is structurally the rest of the former Gothic north tower. A single-storey baroque vestibule was added to the width of the nave on the western front.
The interior of the nave has an open roof structure based on the plans of the architect Jakob Adlhart from 1972/1973. There is a west gallery. The chamfered triumphal arch is ogival. The choir closes with a five-eighth end and has a round arched beveled sacristy portal in the north, the sacristy is barrel vaulted on the ground floor and groin vaulted on the first floor. The western vestibule is divided and includes a chapel room in the southwest.
Furnishing
The high altar from the first half of the 18th century shows the altarpiece of Mary and Child in a halo, including the image of Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist from the second half of the 17th century, and in the upper image St. Andreas from the beginning of the 18th century. The tabernacle is from the second half of the 18th century. The figures Rupert and Virgil stand above the sacrificial portals, and there are also the console figures Katharina and Barbara, all from the early 18th century.
Dreher & Flamm built the organ (1938).
