The parish church of Niederndorf stands on a hill in the municipality of Niederndorf in the district of Kufstein in the state of Tyrol . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to St. George , belongs to the Deanery Kufstein of the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

A church was documented in 1376. The church was rebuilt from 1685 according to the plans of the architect Simon Weiser. The church was consecrated in 1698. The church was elevated to a parish church in 1786. In 1948 the church was restored.

architecture

The baroque hall church with a Gothic tower and is surrounded by a cemetery.

The core of the tower, which was built in the 13th century, has a round-arched, probably Romanesque twin window on the south side and above it, after 1550, the Gothic bell storey with ogival sound openings, the tower has a pointed gable helmet. The baroque nave with an equally wide polygonal choir shows a pilaster structure on the facade. The east wall of the choir shows the mural Crucifixion around 1700. South of the tower is a baroque mount of olives.

The interior of the church shows a three-bay nave and the single-bay choir with a flat triangular closure, the nave and choir under barrel vaults with stitch caps. The choir is separated from the nave by two-layer pilasters and a belt arch. The rectangular windows are framed with stucco edging around 1685. The two-story west gallery stands on Tuscan columns. In the choir there are oratorio galleries from 1825 on the sloping walls. Crosses of the Apostles in stucco medallions there.

The ceiling paintings uncovered in 1948, Josef Adam Mölk painted in 1756, in the Holy Family choir, the four evangelists, John the Baptist and John Nepomuk, in the nave of St. Georg, beheading of St. Margareta, coat donation of St. Martin, to the side of the Annunciation, the Nativity and the Four Fathers of the Church.

Furnishing

Josef Stumpf created the high altar in 1844 with a three-storey classicist structure, centered with the carved figure of Maria or the crucifixion group by Kaspar Bichler in 1844, the statues of St. Peter and Paul were transferred here from the baroque altar of the Kufstein parish church around 1680.

Bartlme Unterberger built the organ in 1823 and rebuilt it by Albert Mauracher in 1886. Gregor, Elias and Hans Christof Löffler name two bells in 1557.
