Catholic parish church of St. Ladislaus in Parndorf

The Roman Catholic Parndorf parish church is located at the northeast end of central Angers in the Parndorf municipality in the Neusiedl am See district in Burgenland . The parish church is consecrated to St. Ladislaus and belongs to the Deanery Neusiedl am See in the Diocese of Eisenstadt . The building is a listed building .

history

A medieval parish is assumed. A Saint Benedict church was mentioned in a document in 1430. The parish was re-established and changed to the Ladislaus patronage in 1572. In 1965 a restoration was carried out.

architecture

The Romanesque east tower has an apse and is connected in one axis to the baroque choir and nave. The basement of the tower and the semicircular low apse are made of Romanesque stone masonry from the 12th and 13th centuries. The buttresses were added later. The upper floor of the tower is from the 16th century. The stone spire of the tower was renewed in the 19th century. The flat-roofed choir adjoining the tower stands on Romanesque foundations. The nave was built from 1716 to 1718 at the same time as the Lower Belvedere , based on a plan by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt . The western gable facade with swinging side elevations shows the coat of arms of the patronage family Harrach in the gable .

The remarkable hall has a two-bay nave behind a narrow western facade yoke with a single-bay choir under a barrel vault with stitch caps and has a double belt on flat pilasters in the middle of the ship. The three-axis gallery stands on supports. The gallery parapet is drawn forward in the middle semicircular. The round-arched triumphal arch is broad. There is a deep shield arch on the apis wall. The basement of the tower is a Romanesque groin-vaulted chapel with a wide arch to the apse. It was there in 1965 that concrete was used to damage the building.

From 2008 to 2013, the overpainted wall painting by the Tyrolean painter Johann Gfall from 1768/1769 was uncovered in the interior of the church over several years of preparation and restoration work . In the end of the choir behind the high altar, the painting creates the illusion of a wide domed room. A ceiling painting shows a vision of heaven surrounded by a framing stick of plants.

Furnishing

The altars are from the 18th century. The high altar shows the altar sheet St. Ladislaus in front of the Madonna by Carl Johann Hemerlein from the 3rd quarter of the 19th century in a flat, richly curved volute frame. The figures of the apostles Peter and Paul stand above the sacrificial passage portals . The side altars on the triumphal arch show the pictures of St. Anthony of Padua on the left and the wedding of St. Catherine on the right.

The pulpit from the 2nd quarter of the 18th century shows the Harrach coat of arms on the basket. There is a console figure of St. Johannes Nepomuk from the 18th century on the south wall. There is a popular Madonna around 1700. The baptismal font in the tower chapel bears a group of Anabaptists from the 18th century. In the floor of the tower chapel there are gravestones with the dates 1530, 1722 for a priest, 1664.

The neo-baroque organ is from 1860. Josef Golner in Pressburg cast a bell in 1843.
