The Roman Catholic parish church Pilgersdorf is located in the center of the municipality Pilgersdorf ( Hungarian : Pergelin , Croatian : Pilištrof ) in the Oberpullendorf district in Burgenland . She is the St. Aegidius and belongs to the dean's office in Oberpullendorf .

history

A parish already existed here in the Middle Ages. At times she was Protestant . The current parish church was built in 1649. In the years 1660 to 1820 the church was under the priory of the Augustinian hermits of Lockenhaus .

In 1975 the foundations of a pre-Romanesque church were excavated west of today's church, in the area of the old school .

Architecture and equipment

Using brickwork from a pre-Romanesque church in the southeast corner of the church, the church was expanded in 1783. In the years 1970 to 1973 the church was again restored and modernized according to plans by Siegfried A. Mörth. The church has a classical nave with buttresses. The core of the three-story west tower is from the Middle Ages. Instead of the sanctuary there is now a high and modern hall building at this point. The old parts of the church have also been adapted in the style of the 1970s, including a popular altar.

A baroque crucifix from the church in Bubendorf hangs on the east wall . There is a baroque baptismal font to the side. The remarkable wooden figures of St. Thomas and St. Augustine come from the former high altar and are now on the west wall. They were restored in 1972.

The organ was built by Anton Tausz from Großpetersdorf at the end of the 19th century.
