The Rangersdorf parish church, first mentioned between 1006 and 1039, is under the patronage of the apostles Peter and Paul . Bishop Berthold von Chiemsee consecrated the church in 1516. In the course of the Josephine reforms , Rangersdorf was detached from the mother parish of Stall in 1787 and made an independent parish.

Building description

The medium-sized, Gothic building from the beginning of the 16th century consists of a nave, which was extended by one yoke to the west in the Baroque period , a choir with a five-eighth end and a south tower with tracery windows and pointed gable helmets. The choir is supported by stepped buttresses , the nave is smooth .

A star-ribbed vault rises above the two eastern bays of the three- bay nave above the cantilevered services . The west yoke has a ridge vault. On the north wall of the nave, a late Gothic fresco fragment depicts the flight to Egypt . The triumphal arch with a baroque style and pilaster structure connects the nave with the choir. In the choir, a ribbed vault rests on semicircular templates that rise from a cornice. An ogival door on the south wall of the choir leads to the sacristy . Above is the arched entrance to the tower. The church windows were redesigned in baroque style.

Facility

In the second half of the 19th century, the interior of the church was largely renewed in neo-baroque style. The high altar dates partly from the beginning of the 18th century. The altar sheet of the high altar shows the handing over of the keys. To the side are the statues of the princes of the apostles. The two side altars with the figures of Mary and Joseph and the pulpit with half-reliefs of the four evangelists were made by Johann Rotschopf in 1879. Other features of the church include a guardian angel group from the Rococo , a Woman of the Apocalypse from the first quarter of the 18th century and a group of figures with the teaching of Mary from the mid-18th century. A winged altar from 1423 with scenes from the legend of Saints Peter and Paul comes from the Rangersdorfer church. This oldest surviving winged altar in Carinthia is now in the Diocesan Museum in Klagenfurt .
