architecture

Exterior of the church
The hall church with an east-facing tower is in the northeast of Süßenbach. The nave and the north choir with three-sided closure have a surrounding cornice and arched windows. Due to the inclusion of the nave of the previous church, the nave has short transverse arms. The tower, which was erected on the transverse arm in the east in 1899, stands in the place of the choir of the previous church and integrates arched windows from the previous building and has arched sound windows and a pyramid roof. The south front with an angled gable has arched windows, a circular window, figure niches on the gable and a gabled porch. On the east side of the choir is a two-storey sacristy extension .

Church interior
The hall under a pressed wooden barrel has an organ gallery on pillar arcades. The choir has moved in slightly. The transverse arms are in the core of the previous building, in the west arm there are still remnants of a cross vault and a figure niche, the east arm under a flat ceiling has a round arch niche over a bricked up rectangular opening.

The ceiling painting in the choir shows a medallion Trinity by the painter Engelbert Daringer (around 1930). The stained glass in the choir from 1926 shows Saints John the Evangelist and Peter and Paul.

Furnishing

The high altar on the back wall of the choir is a three-part, round-arched wing retable with a blast-like crown and neo-baroque side supports and wing reliefs, Victims of Melchizedek and Dreams of Elijah , built by the sculptor Josef Furthner (1926). The altarpiece St. Margareta is from the previous altar from 1885. The free-standing altar table from 1840 has a ciborium tabernacle between adoring angels. The organ cladding, the pulpit and the choir stalls, all with neo-baroque decor, were made around 1880/1890. The granite font has a 19th century top.

The organ is from 1820. Hans Dinkelmair cast a bell in 1585. Christian Berger cast a bell in 1636.
