The Roman Catholic parish church Schleinbach is slightly elevated on the western edge of the village Schleinbach in the Ulrichskirchen-Schleinbach community in the Mistelbach district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. Peter and is located in the Wolkersdorf deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The parish was probably founded before 1400. It was first mentioned in a document in 1429. The baroque church building dates from 1687 and is essentially medieval. The Gothic north tower was built in 1436. Restorations took place between 1974 and 1976.

The church consists of a simple nave. This is followed by a choir of the same width with a polygonal end in the south. The facade is structured with pilaster strips and lunettes . There is a Gothic slit window on the first nave yoke. The church tower is presented to the northern entrance facade. In the basement there are Gothic slit windows, in the bell storey there are round arched sound windows . The church tower closes at the top in an onion helmet . A single-storey chapel annex is attached to the third nave yoke to the west and east. The sacristy adjoins the choir to the west.

Church interior

The three-bay nave and the single-bay choir, which is slightly higher than the nave, are vaulted with a needle cap . In between are belt arches that rest on pillars. Under the vault is a heavy all-round entablature. The choir ends in a 3/6 ending. The gallery on the north side is vaulted under the groin , the eastern gallery rests on ribbed vaults .

Furnishing

The altar sheet of the high altar, which represents "the healing of the shadows of Peter", was painted in 1780 by an artist Meidlinger .

In the left side chapel hangs a baroque crucifix from 1704, in the right a votive picture depicting the Fourteen Holy Helpers . It was painted by the artist Maier in 1843 and originally comes from the Fourteen Helpers Chapel, southeast of the village. The font was created in 1731. An inscription stone dates from 1599.
