Parish Church of St. Bernhard
The parish church of St. Bernhard is a former monastery church of the St. Bernhard monastery in the village of St. Bernhard in the municipality of St. Bernhard-Frauenhofen in the Horn district in Lower Austria . The the feast of the Assumption , dedicated Roman Catholic parish church belongs to the deanery Horn in the diocese of St. Poelten . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
The parish church is the former monastery church of the Cistercian convent of St. Bernhard . In 1580 the monastery dissolved during the Reformation . In 1586 the abolished monastery and the property belonging to it were given to the Jesuit College in Vienna , after its abolition in 1773 it belonged to changing owners and partly fell into disrepair until it came to Klosterneuburg Monastery in 1852 after the death of Baron von Ehrenfels . The church was elevated to a parish church in 1791. In 1947 the church was renovated.
architecture
The single-nave early Gothic nave was redesigned in Baroque style in 1620 and has a Gothic choir from the 14th century, the Gothic west tower is in front of the nave, the easternmost nave yoke is symmetrically flanked by two chapels.
Furnishing
The church has remarkable altars from around 1785. The bell was cast in 1518.
