Parish Church of St. Clement

The parish church of St. Klemens (also called Hofbauer church ) is a Roman Catholic parish church at Meidlgasse 19 in Vienna's 11th district of Simmering and is a listed building . The parish is located in the Dean's Office 11 of the Vienna Archdiocese belonging city Vicariate Vienna . It was built between 1971 and 1972 and is the Holy Clemens Maria Hofbauer ordained .

Location description

The church stands in the middle of a new housing estate at Meidlgasse 10 near the Neugebauten Castle .

history

This simple church was built as part of the brisk construction activity between Schloss Neugebauten and Kaiserebersdorf in the early 1970s to ensure pastoral care for this new building area. The church was built in 1971 and 1972 according to plans by the architects Guido Gnilsen and Erich Eisenhofer . On November 15, 1972, it was consecrated to Saint Clement Maria Hofbauer. Since January 1st 1974 the church has been an independent parish church.

Building description

Exterior

The church is a simple central structure made of reinforced concrete over a square floor plan. The bell tower is free-standing. The offset base cuts the central building in a star shape. The church interior is opened to the outside by two ribbon windows that take up the entire interior and an octagonal light drum . The outer walls swing out slightly at the outer edges.

The square interior has triangular niches for the confessionals. Towards the top, the church ceiling opens up into a tambour and an opaion . From this emanates a corona cast in concrete.

Furnishing

The altar wall is inclined and forms a demarcation between the weekday chapel and the nave. The one crucified on the altar wall comes from an old wayside chapel in Kaiserebersdorf. A South American copper relief with the motif "Christ the King" hangs on one wall . The Way of the Cross was bought in 1984 by the parish church of Velm . This way of the cross in the Nazarene style . It consists of two stations in the technology of leather application .

The organ available since 2012 is a positive, built in 1998 as a house organ by the company vd Putten en Veger Finsterwolde , which comprises five stops on one manual .
