The parish church Strengen is located in the municipality Strengen in the district of Landeck in the state of Tyrol . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Martin of Tours belongs to the Deanery of Zams in the Diocese of Innsbruck . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

A church was documented in 1420. In 1636/1637 the church was changed. Today's church was built with a baroque reconstruction from 1753 to 1755 according to the plans of the architect Paul Glatzl, re-consecrated in 1761. In 1891 the church was elevated to a parish church. In 1974/1975 a renovation was carried out, during which the church was also expanded to the west with a vestibule and gallery according to the plans of the architect Eduard Ladner .

architecture

The simple church building has a tower on the north side of the choir with a protruding bell storey with flat-arched sound windows with a pointed helmet on curved gables from 1821.

The interior of the church shows a four-bay nave, the fourth bay is widened like a transept, the retracted one-bay choir closes with a five-eighth end . The nave has layer pilasters, the choir simple pilasters. The nave and choir are vaulted with barrel vaults with stitch caps over richly profiled mantelpiece cornices.

The ceiling paintings, in the nave, the Trinity , the Coronation of Mary and the Allegory of Redemption, as well as scenes from Mary, in the choir of the Apostles' Communion , were painted by Johann Kärle in 1874. Norbert Strolz created the glass paintings in 1974.

Furnishing

The furnishings from the mid-19th century were changed in 1975, the cafeteria, tabernacle and ambo were created by Elmar Kopp , the bronze work by Josef Niederbacher.

In the choir there is a remarkable baroque carving group "Earthly and Heavenly Trinity" from the end of the 17th century, ascribed to the sculptor Andreas Thamasch . In the nave there are console figures Petrus, Sebastian, Florian, Veit and in the gallery Johannes Evangelist, Bartholomäus, all by Josef Georg Witwer from the former high altar around 1755. The figures Katharina and Barbara were ascribed to the circle of Andreas Kölle. The carving group “Mantle donation of St. Martin “is from the end of the 17th century. A. Vogl painted a canvas painting “Trinity with the Fourteen Helpers in Need ” in 1852. Josef Kastner the Elder probably painted a canvas painting “Holy Family with Anna” in 1853.

The organ with a five-axis neo-Romanesque prospect with music-making angels above the small fields was built by Josef Sies in 1866.
