The parish church of St. Margareta is the Roman Catholic parish church in the city of Traiskirchen and belongs to the dean's office of Baden in the archdiocese of Vienna .

history

Bishop Altmann von Passau consecrated a church in Traiskirchen in 1082 on the site of an earlier church. The parish was founded in 1113 by Duke Leopold III. the Melk passed. On January 7, 1120, the parish area comprised the current parishes of Tribuswinkel, Pfaffstätten, Baden , St. Helena, Sooß, Bad Vöslau, Gainfarn, Leobersdorf, Kottingbrunn, Sollenau , Tattendorf, Günselsdorf, Oberwaltersdorf, Ebreichsdorf, Unterwaltersdorf and Moosbrunn.

The original fortified church was destroyed to the ground in the Turkish War in 1683 . With Abbot Gregor Müller of Melk Abbey, the church was rebuilt according to the plans of the architect and builder Mathias Gerl and consecrated on June 12, 1774 by Prince Archbishop Cardinal Migazzi .

The city parish church is one of 18 parish churches in the dean's office of Baden in the Archdiocese of Vienna .
