Mathias Gerl

Mat (t) hias Franz Gerl or Mathias Gerl the Younger (born April 1, 1712 in Klosterneuburg , Lower Austria ; † March 13, 1765 in Vienna ) was an Austrian architect and builder .

Life

Mathias Gerl the Younger belonged to a family of Viennese builders, Josef Gerl (1734–1798) should also be mentioned. Its architecture was influenced by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt .

In 1829 the Gerlgasse in Vienna- Landstrasse (3rd district) was named after him.

Mainly supporting architectural parts were made of the hardest Kaiserstein , so an intensive collaboration with Kaisersteinbruch masters is documented.
