The Roman Catholic parish church of Untertauern is in the town of Untertauern in the municipality of Untertauern in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the state of Salzburg . The parish church of St. Josef is part of the Altenmarkt dean's office in the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The church is a listed building .

history

The church was built in 1743 with the court building manager Johann Kleber and consecrated in 1745. In 1835 a cemetery was started. In 1891 the church was elevated to a parish church. 1957 was a restoration. 1962 was an interior and 1979 an exterior restoration with the roof turret.

Church exterior

The rectory is attached to the north side of the small baroque church. The simple exterior with a circumferential cove and a hipped gable roof has an east nave and a recessed choir with rounded corners and a straight choir closure. In the south is a rectangular entrance portal. The plastered roof turret has arched sound windows and an octagonal attachment with an onion helmet. The sacristy is part of the rectory attached to the north.

Church interior

The single-nave three-bay nave and the single-bay choir have a profiled cornice and flattened barrel vaults. In the west is a gallery. In the choir there is a stucco mirror and the entrance to the sacristy is on the left and above the entrance is an oratorio window.

The high altar with sacrificial portals was designed by Peter Basler (1840). The tabernacle with its wide side parts was transferred from the former Capuchin Church in Tamsweg, which was closed in 1785 , and has rotatable images of the four evangelists by Johann Fuchs (1888) and contains reliquaries on the reverse. The recessed structure of the high altar bears the baroque figure of Joseph from 1745 and a carving of God the Father and the Holy Spirit with an angel from the middle of the 18th century in the top under a canopy.

The side altars from the 18th century bear Maria, Joachim and Anna on the left, Johannes Nepomuk on the right and John the Baptist and John the Evangelist on the side.

The pentagonal pulpit with a sounding cover from the 18th century shows Christ as the Good Shepherd and the Evangelists in the filling fields . The hanging crucifix is ​​from the 18th century.

The organ was built by Louis Mooser (1850) and modified by Mauracher (1897).

The font is from 1963.

There are two gravestones, Johann Schiffer 1760 and Josef Polz 1793.
