Parish Church of Vent
The Roman Catholic parish church Vent is located in Vent in the municipality of Sölden in the Ötztal in Tyrol . The parish church of St. Jakobus belongs to the dean's office of Silz in the diocese of Innsbruck . The church is a listed building .
history
The high valley Vent, which extends from Zwieselstein to the southwest, was mentioned in documents in 1241. A chapel with a cemetery was officially consecrated in 1502. The church building was destroyed in 1712 by an avalanche. A new building was consecrated in 1862 and elevated to a parish church in 1891. A restoration was carried out in 1975, during which the artistically forged grave crosses were also removed.
architecture
The two-bay church building, parallel to the valley, with a deep, polygonally closing choir on the outside is surrounded by a cemetery. The tower on the mountain side has arched sound windows and an eight-sided attachment with an onion helmet. The Good Shepherd fresco on the gable facade was painted by Ludwig Sturm (1933).
The interior of the church with a lancet barrel vault shows the chronogram 1806 on the arch of the choir. The ceiling painting Trinity in the choir and the beheading of St. Jakobus painted Josef Gschösser (?) (1856).
Furnishing
The baroque high altar from the middle of the 18th century was transferred here from the Schnals Charterhouse . The high altar shows the altar sheet St. Jakobus painted Straßer (1848) and carries figures of the Carthusian saints Bruno and Hugo. The side altar with a picture of Mariahilf from the 19th century bears the figures Katharina and Barbara by Andreas Kölle (1715). The late Gothic console statues John the Baptist and Barbara are from the beginning of the 16th century. The crucifix is late Gothic. The statuettes James and Isidore as well as a Pietà and the pulpit are from the 18th century.

Burial motto of a Venter mountain guide on a wrought-iron cross in 1967 (the forged crosses have since been removed).
