history
A parish church dedicated to St. Nicholas is first mentioned in a document in 1320. At that time it was a small Gothic building.
Around 1500 the old church was replaced by a new Gothic building. A fire in 1630 largely destroyed it, but the retaining walls are likely to have been preserved, the floor plan with nave, apse wing and left side tower, for example , corresponds to Kirchberg from the same time.
In 1735 the church was first redesigned in baroque style .
From 1771 to 1775 the architect and builder Andre Hueber designed a new building for the baroque parish church and completely rebuilt it. The baroque ceiling frescoes come from the Tyrolean painter Matthias Kirchner .
In 1970 the parish church of Westendorf was completely restored. Restoration work took place again around 2005 .
Bells
The parish church has five bells , only four of which can be rung. They come from the Grassmayr bell foundry in Innsbruck and were cast in 1947. You heard it in tones 1 -g 1 -b 1 -c 2 .
