Matthias Kirchner

Matthias Kirchner (* 1735  in Hall in Tirol , † 1805 in Kitzbühel ) was an Austrian baroque painter .

Life

After the death of Simon Benedikt Faistenberger in 1759 , Kirchner from Hall received citizenship in Kitzbühel, where he worked as a painter until his death. He created frescoes and panel paintings for churches in the Kitzbühel area, but also flower and fruit still life and is considered the last important baroque painter in the region. Stylistically, he is close to the Augsburg Rococo of Matthäus Günther  . Copper engravings by Martin Schedel often served  as models for his panel paintings .
