history

The parish, founded around 1200, was incorporated into the Schottenstift in 1237.

The Gothic staggered church from the first half of the 14th century probably stands on early medieval foundations and was redesigned in Baroque style in 1729 .

architecture

The stately Gothic church building with a dominating west tower is surrounded by a cemetery with a charnel house.

The mighty nave under a deep saddle roof with two simple south-facing Gothic buttresses shows baroque segmented arched windows. The south portal with a shoulder arch has a deep, strongly profiled ogive arched garment from the first half of the 14th century and to the east of it a neo-Gothic rectangular portal around 1900. The three-aisled Gothic staggered choir, all with a polygonal end, have stepped buttresses and high pointed arched windows, the windows in the polygon of the Middle choirs have two lanes with tracery in fish bladder and finial shapes. To the south of the yoke of the south nave choir is a shallow chapel extension from the second half of the 14th century with a pointed arched Gothic tracery window and a Baroque rounded window. The mighty west tower from the 14th century, probably a fortified church tower on older foundations, consists of ashlar and quarry stone masonry, it has five storeys, loopholes, narrow, coupled Gothic three-pass windows, the baroque bell storey has arched windows. The tower has a pyramid helmet from the first half of the 19th century over clock gables. In 1902, a sacristy with a spiral staircase was added to the extension of the north nave choir.

The interior of the church shows a three-aisled, three-bay nave with a staggered elevation with formerly flat ceilings and therefore remains of the medieval painted eaves cornice have been preserved in the attic. Baroque vaults from 1729 are located above the Gothic, beveled, pointed arch arcades that separate the naves and consist of eight-sided pillars with profiled nose consoles, in the central nave as a needle cap barrel, in the side aisles with groin vaults on flat wall templates. The chamfered, ogival Gothic triumphal arch is slightly drawn in with the central nave. All three choirs have a five-eighth closing . In the high, clear, four-bay central choir and in the single-bay side choirs, there are ribbed vaults with polychrome-plated keystones, and in the central nave on profiled wall templates with service bundles. On the pillar arcades connecting the choirs there is a tracery nose with three-pods. To the south in the central choir there is a late Gothic session niche in three parts with Blendwipergen gabled with finials. There is also a small triangular sacraments niche with wrought-iron plug-in grille and three-pass tracery. To the north in the central choir there is a gallery opening around 1900 with neo-Gothic decor. The small Gothic chapel extension is accessible from the south choir via a wide, pressed, profiled arcature, it is two-bay with five-eighth end with groin vaults on chalice consoles, and is a former grave chapel and donor chapel.

There are painted Gothic consecration crosses on the pillars of the choir.

Furnishing

The neo-Gothic furnishings are from the end of the 19th century.

The high altar from 1885 with a structure with eyelashes and branch decoration bears the late Gothic figures Peter and Paul around the middle of the 15th century and shows the high altar sheet of the Coronation of Mary . The two similarly designed neo-Gothic side altars show the altarpiece Herz Jesu on the left and the Herz Mariä on the right. The pulpit shows the four evangelists on the basket with reliefs .

In the triumphal arch hangs a baroque crucifix from around 1760. There is a wooden figure showing God the Father with a globe from around 1700.
