Barderup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Barderup is a place in Schleswig-Holstein that belongs to the municipality of Oeversee . It is not to be confused with the name-like Braderup in the district of North Friesland .

location

Barderup consists of the western village of Barderup ( Lage ) and the nearby Barderup-Ost ( Lage ). The two parts of Barderup are separated by the Neumünster – Flensburg railway line and, in particular, the federal motorway 7 (A7), which run from south to north. The town of Frörup is about two kilometers south . The Flensburg suburbs Neuholzkrug , Altholzkrug and Weding, which belong to the municipality of Handewitt, are located about two kilometers to the north . To the east of Barderup is the Sankelmarker See with the village of Sankelmark .

history

Barderup probably originated as a resettlement from the original village of Oeversee. The place name Barderup consists of the components "Barde" and the suffix -rup. With regard to the first word component, the local community obviously likes to refer to the old Celtic word bard , which names a singer and poet, and speculates that the founders of the village of Barderup were happy people who enjoyed singing. The first word component could, however, also have a different origin. It could mean an identical personal name or it simply refers to whiskers . The suffix "- rup " of the place name indicates that the settlement is a village . Barderup was first mentioned in 1472.

Until 1974 Barderup belonged to the Flensburg-Land district . In the same year Barderup and Munkwolstrup were merged to form the municipality of Sankelmark and became part of the Schleswig-Flensburg district . Sankelmark, in turn, merged with the municipality of Oeversee in 2008, so that Bardermup is now part of the municipality in question.

Say of the Black Way near Barderup

The Margarethenweg, also known as the “Black Path”, still leads from Barderup to Neuholzkrug. Originally this path should have reached all the way to Altholzkrug. The path was named after the Danish Queen Margarethe , who, according to legend, had it laid out. The queen, who was also called "Black Margrethe" due to her dark character, was extremely cunning and always rode through the country on horses whose horseshoes were nailed upside down so that no one could see where she was. She is said to have ridden along the Black Way in flight from her enemies and led them astray with her cunning. It is also reported that the Black Margrethe has apparently been haunted around the country since her death in Flensburg .
