The horse mountain is located between Stützerbach and Oehrenstock . Together with the Kienberg ( 773.8 m above sea level ) it forms a ridge that branches off from the Großer Dreiherrnstein ( 838.2 m above sea level ) in a north-easterly direction between the Schorte and Schobse tributaries of the Ilm .
