Pferdmengesstrasse 24

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The building on Pferdmengesstraße 24 is a single-family house in the Cologne district of Marienburg , which was built in 1950/51 and belongs to the Cologne-Marienburg villa colony . It is a listed building as a monument .

history

The single-family house was built for senior British members of the Allied High Commission (1949–1955), which exercised a number of reservation rights vis-à-vis the Federal Republic of Germany at the seat of government in Bonn , based on a standardized design by the architects Gottfried Böhm (signature in the building application ) and Paul Pott . The building owner was the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Besatzungsbauten Cologne, Siegburg, Bad Godesberg . Within the occupation buildings, the house belonged to class IV, which comprises a living space of 211 m² - just like the original neighboring house, Pferdmengesstrasse 22 (demolished in 1981), which formed a design unit with it through a connecting garage wing .

The entry of the house in the list of monuments of the city of Cologne took place on August 20, 1993. Around 1995 the property was in a largely unchanged condition.

description

The house comprises three wings that lead to an unusual floor plan. The main wing is independent from the gable and is intended for the development and management of the house. According to the original concept, the laterally arranged wings take up the living spaces, which are therefore deliberately separated from the street. The dining and living room are in the west, the study in the east wing and the bedroom and girls' room on the upper floor. The corridor facing the garden courtyard and opening with French windows is designed on the model of an English hall .
