Nursing court Neumarkt

The Neumarkt nursing court was a nursing court of the Prince Archbishopric of Salzburg .

history

Altentann Castle was a moated castle owned by the von Tann family . These were ministerials of the Archbishops of Salzburg since 1100 . With the extinction of the Tanners in 1396, the castle fell back to Salzburg as a settled fiefdom . As early as 1369, Lichtentann Castle had finally reverted to Salzburg.

In 1394 Wolfhart Uiberacker (* around 1353; † 1430) was appointed carer in Lichtentann. In 1410 he was also given care for Altentann. In 1418 Salzburg confirmed these enfeoffments. He and his son Virgil Uiberacker (* around 1383, † 1454) were caretakers of both nursing courts for life. This was very unusual. Salzburg usually only appointed nurses for a specific time. As a result, inheritance maintenance - completely unusual for Salzburg - arose: In 1429, Virgil received together with his sons Ernst (* around 1410; † 1466) and Wolfshart († 1481). This was confirmed in 1444, and in 1462 Wolfshart received hereditary care for all of his male descendants. In all other nursing courts, the Salzburg rulers had consistently taken care to create a civil servant state without hereditary intermediate levels.

The Überacker family administered both nursing courts from their Sighartstein Castle . In 1607 both nursing courts were merged into one and later the seat was moved to Neumarkt am Wallersee . The name changed accordingly to Neumarkt Care Court.

In 1693, the court chamber determined that the hereditary position of the nursing office only related to Altentann. Negotiations were made with the Überacker and they waived their rights in return for a payment of initially 700 guilders and later 1200 guilders. The Überackers also received the title of a nurse, but the office was a pure sinecure ; they were no longer involved in the administration of the office. Now, as in the other nursing courts, the state government could freely determine the nurses.
