Nursing court building, today Neumarkt am Wallersee district court

The nursing court building (Neumarkt am Wallersee) is located in the municipality of Neumarkt am Wallersee in a row of the street market complex of this place in the Salzburg-Umgebung district of Salzburg (Hauptstrasse 16). Originally it was the seat of the carers in the Neumarkt Care Court . Today the district court of Neumarkt is housed here.

history

The district judge von Lichtentann had relocated his official residence to Neumarkt since the 15th century (probably from 1485). Even after the merging of the courts from Altentann and Lichtentann in 1607 to Altentann, one clerk remained in Neumarkt. In 1685 a new building was planned for the prison, but a town house ( Winklersche Bahausung ) was acquired and adapted. After that, the caretaker from Alten- and Lichtentann also moved to Neumarkt.

Although there were repeated complaints about the condition of the building, important personalities stayed here, for example Duke Alphons I of Ferrara in 1545 , who had brought back a letter of recommendation from Emperor Maximilian II for a clean Herberig and Pettgewandt . In the winter of 1717/1718 the English pretender Jakob III. Stuart on his trip to Naples station.

In the course of the 18th century a number of improvements were made: in 1747 the office was refurbished, in 1754 new boxes for the archive were purchased, in 1761 doors and windows in the so-called Bürgerstüberl were renewed. In 1781 it was determined that the chapel on the garden wall belongs to the courthouse and should be renewed. In 1796 the whole property was apparently renovated.

1816, the courthouse went to the port of Salzburg to the Habsburg Monarchy of the archbishop's court chamber in the ownership of the property from the kuk Kameral ärars over. Since 1920 it has been in the possession of the Republic of Austria.

Nursing court building or district court then and now

Since the market fire of 1879, the building has been a relatively unadorned two-story structure. A uniaxial component protrudes at the southern corner, but is included under the flat hipped roof of the entire building. A courtyard wall leads to the chapel, which is dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk .

On the ground floor, a vaulted square on a central pillar has been preserved from the former horse stable . A few simple stucco mirrors are installed on the upper floor. Some ceilings have beaded cornices under the fillets.

In 1988 a general renovation was completed. The former nursing home on the upper floor now serves as the district judge's office. An octagonal (now glazed) pavilion was renewed in the garden .
