Philip Anglim

Philip Anglim (born February 11, 1953 in San Francisco , California ) is an American film and stage actor .

Life

Anglim began his career on Broadway . In 1978 he played the title character in the play The Elephant Man . He received the Theater World Award and the Drama Desk Award and was nominated for the Tony Award for his performance . In the remake of the feature film The Elephant Man , which was produced in 1982, Anglim played the tragic lead again and was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his performance .

In 1983 Anglim became known to a million television audience through his role as Dane O'Neill in the Australian-American bestselling film The Thorn Birds . Supporting roles followed in the films The Last Testament (1983) and The Man Inside - Deadly News (1990). Anglim played Franz Kafka in the French biopic Geliebte Milena , published in 1991 . He gained further notoriety through his portrayal of Vedek Bareil Antos in the science fiction series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , a character he played in eight episodes from 1993 to 1997.
