Philip Locke

Philip Locke (* 29. March 1928 in London , † 19th April 2004 ) was an English actor who mainly due to the role of Vargas in the movie James Bond 007 - Thunderball ( Thunderball was known).

Life

Locke starred in numerous films and TV series, such as B. Hurricane and in Edgar Wallace's The Mysterious Theater . In the Bond movie Fireball , he was initially intended for the character Janni, but eventually got the role of Vargas. In the film he only spoke four words and almost always appeared next to Michael Brennan , who eventually got the part of Janni. Before Fireball , he played alongside Patrick Macnee and Honor Blackman in an episode of the series With Umbrella, Charm and Melon ( The Avengers) . Two years later he appeared on the series again. He later starred alongside Roger Moore in an episode of the Simon Templar series and in the action film Escape to Athena. After numerous stage roles, he was honored with the Tony Award for his role as Sherlock Holmes ' opponent Professor Moriarty .

Locke's homosexuality was unknown until a few years ago.

Philip Locke passed away at the age of 76.
